OUIDA DILLINGHAM

Survived and surrounded by a loving family, Ouida Dillingham died peacefully 
Sunday night at St. Francis Hospital. She was born in St. Augustine, Texas on 
March 9, 1933.

Ouida is known as a woman of love through action. She deeply loved North Monroe 
Baptist Church and was an active member after also being instrumental in its 
conception. While also a member of Bible Study Fellowship, she taught Sunday 
School to both youth and adults during most of her life, as well as serving her 
Lord through singing in the adult choir.

Ouida had a heart for education. Before retiring, she cherished the ability to 
teach multiple generations of students in Gifted and Talented classes in public 
schools and middle school classes at River Oaks School. Most often 
affectionately named, Mrs. D, she brought fun into the classroom every day 
through her unfailing wit, while instilling motivation to accomplish the life 
ahead of them. Truly, she influenced all those who knew her. Ouida extended her 
devotion to education through various educational organizations, such as the 
Kappa Kappa Iota and Alpha Delta Kappa teacher sororities, where she served as 
president. Attending NLSC (currently ULM), she received top honor recognition 
in her graduating class in addition to being chosen along with three other 
women as "Outstanding Young Women of America" for achievement in cultural, 
civic and religious activities throughout the Twin Cities.

Mostly, Ouida's heart was devoted to her Lord and family. She is preceded in 
death by her husband, Max Dillingham, and her mother and father, Sallie and 
Audie Greer. She is survived by her two children: a son, Ben Dillingham and his 
wife Nancy McNeese Dillingham; a daughter, Nancy Dillingham Chapman and husband 
Monte Chapman; six grandchildren, Leslie Vowles, Amanda Dillingham, Holly 
Dillingham Sullivan, Summer Chapman, Judd Chapman, and Hunter Chapman; three 
great grandchildren, Tori Vowles, Georgia Claire Chapman, and John Thomas 
Sullivan, and many adored nieces and nephews.

Before her heavenly arrival, Ouida professed her love for the Lord and desires 
for her treasured loved ones in a letter. "I can't wait to see Jesus and then 
to tell Max all the wonderful things his children and grandchildren have done."

Ouida called many "friend" in her daily life. We invite you to visitation 
Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at North Monroe Baptist Church, and 
a memorial service will be held at the church on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 
10:00 am. with Dr. Bill Dye and Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment 
will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Judd Chapman, 
Hunter Chapman, Bobby Dillingham, Ted Smith, Brandon Sullivan and Harry Vowles. 
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Ouida's Sunday School class.

Donations may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church Daring Faith Building 
Program.
