He was born in Frederick, Oklahoma on March 19, 1933. Max was a member of North Monroe Baptist Church and was instrumental in its conception. In his earlier years, he took part in a prison ministry. Max was also assistant chief of the first group of the Monroe Police Auxiliary in 1959. He was preceded in death by his father, C. L. Dillingham; his mother, Myrtle Mae Dillingham; brother, Bob Dillingham; and sister, Nita Nell Dillingham. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ouida Dillingham; a son, Ben Dillingham and his wife Nancy McNeese Dillingham; a daughter, Nancy Dillingham Chapman and her husband Monte Chapman; six grandchildren, Leslie Vowles, Amanda Dillingham, Holly Dillingham, Summer Chapman, Judd Chapman, and Hunter Chapman; one great grandchild, Tori Vowles. He is also survived by one brother, Rex Dillingham; and many much-loved nieces and nephews. Max considered every person he met his friend and brought warmth to every life he touched. He left his family a legacy of love and kindness; and Sunday morning, we know he heard from Heaven's gates, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at North Monroe Baptist Church, and a memorial service will be held at the church on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Dr. Bill Dye and Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Dillingham, Bobby Dillingham, Judd Chapman, Hunter Chapman, Jerry Garner, John Tannehill, Mac Magee, and Roy Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Dillingham Optical and the members of Max's Sunday School class. Donations may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church Building Fund or Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
