Monroe, LA

Daniel Wallace Doherty, a lifelong resident of Jennings, LA. joined his 
beloved wife Marion Guidry in Heaven on April 20, 2009 at the youthful age of 
90. They met in their early twenties against the backdrop of World War II. On 
March 18, 1943 they were married in Crowley, LA. Daniel served as a sergeant 
in the United States Air Force.

After being discharged from the Air Force, Daniel and Marion moved to 
Jennings, LA. where he started a business manufacturing sea-worthy vessels for 
commercial operation. However, his favorite hobby was making jewelry, which he 
dispensed liberally to his friends and family.

He is survived by three children: Daniel W. Doherty, Jr., M. D., of Liberal, 
KS., George F. Doherty, of Lafayette, LA., and Marion Doherty Broussard and 
her husband, Gerald Broussard, M. D., of Monroe, LA., nineteen grandchildren 
and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Diane Doherty Young, of Monroe, LA. 
He is also survived by one brother, Dolan Doherty of Evangeline, LA .

Friends of Daniel and his family are welcome to visit Kilpatrick Funeral Home 
on 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe, LA., Friday, May 1, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. 
The funeral service will be conducted at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-
Day Saints on 909 N 33rd St., Monroe, LA., Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM, 
with burial to follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park.
