Services for Mrs. Ruby Lee Rawls Dowdy, 74 of West Monroe, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 1997 at Mulhearn Funeral Home chapel, West Monroe with Rev. Herbert Sims and Rev. Maurice Cotton officiating. Burial will be in Twin Cities Memorial Gardens. Ruby, homemaker and beloved mother of four children, departed this life on Monday, November 10, 1997 after enduring much pain from injuries sustained in a car accident in 1967. Ruby was born in West Monroe on November 18, 1922 to the union of Henry Luther and Ethel Laura Lewis Rawls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Earl Dowdy, her grandson, Paul Allen Bonner and her brother O. C. Rawls. She was a longtime member of the Brownville Baptist Church in West Monroe. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Bonnie J. and Larry Daugherty; sons, and daughters-in-law: Robert Wayne and Ruby Dowdy, Jerry L. and Linda Dowdy, Randy K. and Nancy Dowdy, all of West Monroe; sisters; Imogene Nola of West Monroe; Patsy Garrett of Ruston, LA, Mildred Griffin of Corpus Christi, TX; brothers: Maurice (Red) Rawls, Richard Rawls and Bobby Rawls, all of West Monroe and Winfred (W.C.) Rawls of Calhoun, LA; granddaughters: Jennifer D. Chavers and Tammy D. Dicks; grandsons: Darren K. Bonner, Tony W. Dowdy, Bradley J. Dowdy, Joshua L. Dowdy, Kevin B Dowdy and Timothy M. Dowdy; nine great grandchildren,numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be to the Brownville Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA.
