Visitation will be observed from 5:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 Funeral Services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, Monroe, Louisiana at 3:00 p.m. Pre-funeral visitation will be held at Kilbourne Hall next to Grace Episcopal Church, Monroe from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial services will be held immediately following at Mulhearne Memorial Park, Monroe, under the direction of Hixson Brothers. Mr. Downs, 67, passed from this life on December 17, 2012, at CHRISTUS St. Francis Cabrini Hospital. Mr. Downs was born in Monroe, Louisiana, where he was a graduate of Neville High School and later attended Northeast Louisiana University. He served our county in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War and was a member of Am Vets Post 7. During his working career he was employed by Louisiana Machinery Co. for over thirty years serving both as a Sales Representative and Manager. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother and grandfather that will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Levi Downs. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of over forty years, Janis Murrell Downs; mother, Roberta Neel Downs; son, David Thomas Downs and wife Brindly; daughter, Melanie Downs Barnidge and husband Beau; brothers, Robert Joseph Downs and Harvey Clark Downs; and one granddaughter, Ella Claire Downs; and numerous friends. Pallbearers will be Larry White, Robert Cockrell, Ronnie Bryant, Steven Shine, Freddie Moses and Allen Lang.
