Gerald Lewis officiating. Masonic Rites and burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mr. Dumas, a member of First Baptist Church of Swartz, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, February 5, 2004, at North Monroe Medical Center after a courageous fight with cancer. He served as Mechanic on the Monroe Fire Department for 8 1/2 years and was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters and Local 629. He was an ASE and EVT Certified Mechanic and held many other specialty certifications. As Fire Department Mechanic, he endeavored to keep the fleet of fire trucks, support vehicles, and fire fighting equipment in proper working order. He also worked as a Paramedic on the Fire Department and with local ambulance services in providing emergency medical services to the community. Mike was a Master Mason, a member of Western Star Lodge #24 F&AM, a member of Barak Shrine Temple and the Clown Unit where he was known and loved as �Smoke Dog� the clown in the fire truck. In his service with the Clown Unit, he was instrumental in organizing the parade vehicles for events and keeping them running and looking good. He is survived by his mother, Mary Cater Dumas of The Woodlands, TX; brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Jeanette Tyson of The Woodlands, TX and Steve and Kitty Tyson of Eros, LA; sister, Diane Dumas Goodson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Monroe Fire Fighters: Chief Jimmie R. Bryant, Ric Hall, Randall Thompson, David Hill, Robert McGee, and Tracy Douglas. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Duncan, Ricky Smith, George Douglas, and Tim Wood. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
