He was born to parents, Dillard H. Duncan and Lessie Irby, September 19, 1924. Lester is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Carolyn Cooper Duncan; daughter, Janet Duncan Gibbs, and husband, Lawrence; grandsons, James Karnes Jr., wife Angel and daughters Keri and Sydney; Dr. Jonathon Karnes, wife Dusty, children Luke and Katie; Jeffrey Gibbs, wife Kira and daughter Autumn. He is also survived by brothers Dillard Duncan, Huey Duncan, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Clarence, Richard and Arthur Lee and son-in-law James Karnes, Sr. He was a charter member of Lakeshore Baptist Church serving as deacon and in many other capacities locally and on both the associational and state levels. He enjoyed a lengthy and successful career in the insurance business. At the time of retirement, Lester moved to Ruston, LA with wife Carolyn to be near their daughter. They became members of Cook Baptist Church loving the new church family, as they did those at Lakeshore. The family wishes to express appreciation to all healthcare providers who assisted them in the past 3 years. Services will be June 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until time for the service. Dr. Mike Holloway and Rev. William Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be James Karnes, Dr. Jonathon Karnes, Jeffrey Gibbs, Kenneth Hart, Marvin Watts, Ricky Cooper, and Clayton Cooper.
