Allen Eppinette officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery of Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 11th, at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Mabel Lee Jordan Echols was born May 11, 1920 in LaDelle, Arkanasas to the late Alvin Lee Jordan and Linnie Fee Deal Jordan. She passed away peacefully at her home in Bastrop on August 7, 2017. Mrs. Echols was a resident of Bastrop since 1950 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. An extraordinary woman, she worked in the ship yards in California during World War II and retired as a sales representative with the Ennis-Texas Tag Company having worked past her eightieth birthday. Her greatest accomplishment was her family and the legacy that follows her. She was dearly loved. Along with her parents, Mrs. Echols is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Harvey Charles Echols, Sr., a daughter, Mylinda Burks Sims, sister, Esther Jordan Akin, two brothers, James T. Jordan and Winfred Jordan, and two sons-in-law, Jim McCready and Doug Moore. Mrs. Echols is survived by her four children, Charles W. Burks and his wife, Pauline, Nettie Echols Cartwright and her husband, Finley, Nancy Echols Moore, and Chuck Echols and his wife, Sharon. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Becky Parks, Jay Sims, Jennifer Harroun, Lisa King, Charlie Burks, John Burks, Mary Berry, Melissa Dempsey, Michael Echols, Daniel Echols, Molly Echols, Leigh McCready Gass, James McCready, and Carol Cartwright Hatcher, twenty-four great grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren, and a beloved friend and caregiver, Rosie Williams. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jay Sims, Charlie Burks, John Burks, Michael Echols, Daniel Echols, and James McCready. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Jordan.
