Officiating the service will be Rev. Dwayne Monk and Rev. Rolly Walker. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Clay, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Edmiston was born April 26, 1933 and passed away September 16, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents: Purvis and Majorie Edmiston; sister: Betty Smith; brothers: Wayne Edmiston and Donnie Edmiston. Mr. Edmiston was a Veteran of the United States Army (Military Police) during the Korean War. He was a Deacon at New Hope Baptist Church, and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Edmiston began his career with South Central Bell in 1955 and worked there for 35 years and 8 months. His hobbies included gardening, landscaping and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Edmiston was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. It was said of him that he never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Martha Jones Edmiston of Choudrant; sons: Ricky Edmiston and wife Lori also of Choudrant, Ronald Edmiston of Shreveport, and Timothy Edmiston of Choudrant; sister: Nelda Robison of Quitman; grandsons : Christopher Edmiston, Cole Edmiston and fiancé Shannon Galloway , Tyler Edmiston , and Ben Edmiston all of Choudrant; granddaughters: Melissa and husband Jason Reeves of Oak Grove, LA; Carey and husband Kevin Key of Oak Grove, LA; and Meghan Edmiston of West Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Christopher Edmiston, Cole Edmiston, Tyler Edmiston, Ben Edmiston, Tracy Mayo and Jeffrey Robison. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff with Doctor's Hospice. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Cemetery; 484 Heard Road, Ruston, LA 71270.
