EDNEY Graveside Services for Alton A. Edney, 82, of West Monroe, LA will be held 9:30 A.M. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Hasley Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Keith McVay officiating. Mr. Edney passed away June 12, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Alton was a retired painter, working for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He was a United States Army veteran, having served overseas during World War II. Alton was also an avid hunter and fisherman; he was a member of Skeeter Bayou Hunting Club and an Honorary Member of Bridge Creek Hunting Club. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maudie Antley Edney; his parents, Oscar and Luella Edney; two brothers, Pete Edney and Virgil Edney; and two sisters, Marie Edney Sweitzer and Aline Edney Sims. Alton is survived by his long-time companion, Linda Ellerbe; sister, Lillian Edney Crowson; his adopted son, Kenneth Edney; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Pallbearers will be Roger Berry, Jeremy Berry, Jared Berry, Lyle (Lynn) Antley, Todd Lawrence and Chris Perez. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
