She was 70 years old. Mrs. Eiland was born in Shreveport, LA, and was a long time resident of Richland Parish. She attended Louisiana Tech University where she was head cheerleader and a member of her state Fair Court. She graduated in February 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and began work as a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines. Mrs. Eiland taught English and literature at Riverfield academy for thirteen years where she received recognition as teacher of the year in 1993 and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional organization that recognizes outstanding teachers. Mrs. Eiland was the first nursing facilities administrator for the Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah, LA, where she spent sixteen years dedicating long hours daily to providing the highest level of care for all the residents whom she regarded as her extended family. She was a member of the Louisiana Nursing Home Association. Mrs. Eiland received numerous commendations for the standard of excellence and the depth of compassion that she continually demonstrated throughout her career. She was an active member and licensed worship leader of St. David's Episcopal Church in Rayville, LA. She is survived by her husband Dr. Edward Herbert Eiland, Jr.; daughter Frances Evelyn Eiland Gusky and Ian Andrew Gusky, Grand daughter Mary Madeline Gusky, all of Baton Rouge, LA.; sons, Dr. Edward Herbert Eiland ,III. and Dr. Lea Swason Eiland of Huntsville, AL.; brother William Henry King, Jr. and Bonnie Holt of Galt, CA.; sister Sarah Charlynne Paxton and William Theo Paxton, Sr. of Tallulah, LA. Memorial Services were held at St. Davids Episcopal Church in Rayville , LA. On May 30, 2013, with Reverend Walter Friese officating. Pallbears were Edward Herbert Eiland, III, Ian Andrew Gusky, William Theo Paxton, Jr., Albert Hery Paxton, Matthew King Paxton, and William Bryant Killen. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church, 824 Louisa Street, Rayville, LA. 71269.
