Entombment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Evans passed away Monday, December 20, at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia, of a lengthy illness. He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Meade Evans, a brother, Bennie Evans, and his parents, Louis and Tempe Evans. Buddy Evans was born September 23, 1930, in Mangham, and lived the majority of his life in Houston, Texas, and Monroe, Louisiana. A 1947 graduate of Mangham High School, Buddy served his country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. In 1985, Buddy retired from Delta Engineering of Houston, Texas, and joined his brother Bennie with Evans Oil Company, of Monroe, Louisiana. In 2001, Buddy retired from Evans Oil and moved to Forest, Virginia, where he lived in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains until his death. Buddy Evans enjoyed a full and productive life, one in which he was surrounded by loving family and friends. His most precious possessions were his family, particularly his wife Charlene, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. An astute businessman who thrived in his work, Buddy also enjoyed the outdoors, and in his latter years enjoyed traveling throughout America with his family. Buddy's generosity and compassion for those less fortunate were matched only by his love for his family. He was indeed a special man. Buddy's survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Marilyn and Mark Scalia of For est, Virginia and Tammy and Craig Currin of Houston, Texas; stepdaughter Janet Parr of Hollister, California; brother Claude Evans of Monroe; sister-in- law Betty Jo Evans of Monroe; niece Suzanne Evans Underwood of Monroe; nephew Bennie Evans, Jr. of Monroe; and grandson and granddaughter Daniel and Mallory Scalia, both of Sterlington. Pallbearers will be Mark Scalia, Craig Currin, Bennie Evans Jr., Daniel Scalia, Jarred Evans, and Ronnie Garvin. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Sunday, December 26, 2004, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
