The service will be officiated by Bro. Connie Ward with interment to follow at Zion Hill Cemetery in Farmerville and under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Mrs. Betty Farrar was born in Smackover, AR on July 31, 1938, and went to rest with the angels on March 18, 2015. She owned and operated Farrar's Grocery in Spearsville, LA for over 35 years. During this time, she became a well-known and vital part of the community. Mrs. Farrar was a faithful Christian and member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She approached life with kindness and generosity. Her honest and caring attitude extended to everyone she met. She opened her heart to all with kind words and a sincere interest in their well- being. Mrs. Farrar's loving character and enduring faith will ensure she is remembered by the many people she touched throughout her life. She was an honorable business woman, a devoted Christian, a loving mother, and an upstanding community member. Her loss will be deeply mourned. Mrs. Farrar was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alene Burson; her husband, Paul F. Farrar; a son, Wendell Scott Farrar; and a grandson, Matthew Kye Farrar. She is survived by three children, Clyde "Bubba" Farrar of Farmerville, Donna Prewitt and her husband Wayne of Calhoun, and Steve Farrar and wife, Amy of Farmerville; sister, Patricia Deforest; grandchildren, Shane, Brandon, Brent, April, Shannon, Bradley, and Wendy; and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, along with close family friends, Cruz Padron and Ricky Sanford. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. In keeping with Mrs. Farrar's giving spirit, the family asks you to donate memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers. The family would also like to express their thanks to Dr. Ron Hammett and Dr. Don Hammett for all of the support and caring shown to Mrs. Farrar during her illness.
