CRAIG FLOYD Rose-Neath Funeral Home Bossier City,LA L. Craig Floyd, 62, of Benton, LA., died in the early morning hours of Wednesday October 15, 2008 from a massive heart attack while vacationing in Canada. Craig was born on September 12, 1946 to Louis E. Floyd and Mary Opal Floyd in Monroe, LA. He attended high school in Columbia, LA., and graduated in 1964. After earning a master's degree is physics from Northeast University in Monroe, Craig taught high school in Waterproof, LA., and Monroe, LA., and coached basketball. He began a 29 year career with Halliburton as a field engineer in 1975. In 1979 he met DeAnn Causey in Shreveport and they were married in 1983. He retired as senior vice president of Halliburton in early 2004. His career at Halliburton led him around the world and along the way he made lifelong friends, David King, Darrell McFatridge †, Jerry Winchester, Bill Patterson and others. At Halliburton, Craig was deeply involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a cause he continued to work for until his death. Craig served on the Board of Directors for the JDRF of Northwest Louisiana from 2005 to 2008. Craig and DeAnn have two daughters, Alix E. Floyd, 23, of Austin, TX., and Claire C. Floyd, 19, of Auburn, AL. After retirement, Craig and DeAnn moved to Benton, LA., into their dream home on Cypress Lake. Craig enjoyed working in the yard, letting Stilts out to chase squirrels, being with his girls, playing tennis, fishing with Claire, traveling with DeAnn, and playing Memory Match with Alix. Craig leaves behind his two daughters and his wife of 25 years. He is survived by his parents, Mary Opal and Louis Floyd of Bastrop, LA., brothers and their families Jeff Floyd of Baton Rouge, LA., and Glenn Floyd of Memphis, TN., sister Vicki Guth of Bonita Springs, FL and her family. Also, by his mother-in-law Roselyn Causey and brother-in-laws Rusty and Brett Causey and their families. His loss is as shocking as it is premature. He will be missed more deeply than is able to be expressed in words. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Airline Drive Sunday October 19, 2008. Services are to be held at noon at Asbury United Methodist Church on Monday, October 20, 2008.
