James Prince officiating. Mr. Floyd was born July 14, 1929 in Columbia, LA and went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2009. Roger was a member of Columbia Heights Baptist Church in Columbia, LA. He served as a Sergeant on the United States Air Force and had the honor of guarding President Truman. He worked as a design engineer at Georgia Pacific for 35 years before retiring. He attended LSU and NLU universities and held several patents for box designs. Roger enjoyed going to church and reading his bible. He also coached his sons' baseball teams and his daughter's softball teams for many years. Roger is preceded in death by his father, Charley Elbert Floyd; mother, Hattie Mae Luna; and siblings, William Elbert Floyd, Hermie Lee "PeeWee" Floyd- Sanderson, Juanita Mae Floyd-Smith, Cecilia Murl Floyd-Clark, Ora Earlene Floyd- Landry, Opal Maurie Floyd-Hunsiker, Raymond Anderson Floyd, and Wayne Luna "Skinny" Floyd. Roger is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mardell Lena Floyd, daughter of William Teller May and Irene Martin May; sons, Donald Glen Floyd and wife, Mary Nelda Floyd and Jerry Michael Floyd; daughter, Tammy Delane Floyd and husband, Craig Gautreaux; grandchildren, Shane Floyd and wife, Debbie, Tara Floyd, CeJay Gautreaux, Lyndsey Floyd, Peyton Floyd, Micah Gautreaux, and Shelby Floyd; great grandchildren, Amber and Kaleigh Williams and Haley Floyd; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers, Charles Floyd and wife, Audlee, Paul Floyd and wife, Francis; and sisters, Maxine Floyd and Iris Grenier and husband, Don. Pallbearers will be Shane Floyd, CeJay Gautreaux, Peyton Floyd, Micah Gautreaux, Randy May, Charles Lee May. Honorary pallbearers will be David May and Randy Evans. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
