Richard Norsworthy officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Dr. Fontana passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015, in Houston, TX, after a brief illness. Dr. Fontana was a graduate of Ouachita High School and continued on to Loyola University of New Orleans, where he received his doctorate of dentistry. After graduation, Dr. Fontana served in the United States Army for two years. He was a member of the Local Dental Society as well as the state LDA before his retirement. Dr. Fontana retired in 2004, practicing dentistry for 40 years in Monroe, and retired to Cypress, TX. Dr. Fontana was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. His love was music, he played trumpet and the bass. His inspiration was his father, Collie Fontana and brother, Carl. He was an active member of Jesus the Good Shepard Catholic Church of Monroe and presently of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church of Cypress, TX. Born and raised in Monroe, parents, Mary Louise Zagone and Charles Carlo Fontana, preceded him in death. Survivors include wife of 54 years, Billie Wilson Fontana, formerly of Monroe, now of Cypress, TX; survivor of five children, Jill Kathleen Langthorne and husband Erik of Houston, TX; Allison Paige Fontana and husband Tim Smeby of Houston, TX; George Paul Fontana, Jr., of New Orleans, LA; David Wilson Fontana of Germantown, TN; and Charles Christian Fontana and wife Julie Castle Fontana of Monroe, LA; and grandchildren, Zach Thigpen, Loren Langthorne, Mary Lee Fontana, George Wilson Fontana, John David Fontana, Zoe Evans, Charles Castle Fontana, and Caden Christian Fontana. Pallbearers will be nephews, Michael Heath Fontana, William Bradford Grant, Robert B. Grant, Jr., Gregg Adam May, Tadd Alan May, and Brett Aaron May. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM, January 15, 2015, at the funeral home.
