Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Fortenberry was born February 2, 1922 and passed away on December 12, 2008. Her passions in life were her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She was a charter member of Riverview Baptist Church in West Monroe, where she was the director of WMU and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was an avid quilter and volunteer for the Carolyn Rose Strauss Center, as well as a life-long PTA member and a Girl Scout and Brownie leader. Mrs. Fortenberry is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Fortenberry and brother, Alfred Keith. Survivors include her children, Dorothy Sims and her deceased husband Robert W. Sims of West Monroe, Norman W. Fortenberry and wife Janie of Vicksburg, MS, Keith Fortenberry and wife Tami of The Woodlands, TX, Glenda Beasley and husband Jerry of West Monroe, and Margaret Salter and husband Doug of West Monroe; ten grandchildren, Whitney Hurd, Benjamin Fortenberry, Keith Wayne Fortenberry, Dwight Fortenberry, Adam Beasley, Sarah Beasley, Derek Salter, Patrick Salter, Mackenzie Salter, and Sydney Salter; eight great grandchildren; brother, Eugene Keith of Victoria, TX; sister, Betty Spiers of Bossier City, LA; brother, Bobby P. Keith and wife Doris of Birmingham, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Adam Beasley, Dwight Fortenberry, Benjamin Fortenberry, Patrick Salter, Derek Salter, and John Parker. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Louisiana Children's Home or to the charity of your choice.
