FRANKS Funeral services for Huey P. Franks of Rayville will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the First United Pentecostal Church of Rayville with Rev. Robert Stroud and Rev. Dan Stansbury officiating. Burial will be in the Greer Cemetery, Rayville under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville. Visitation will be Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church. Huey was born September 16, 1935 in Jonesville, LA to Birdie and David Franks and passed away March 12, 2013. He was the 5th of 12 children. Huey was a lifelong resident of Richland Parish with a few excursions to Chicago and Harrisonburg, LA for short periods during his growing up years. He married Maggie Ruth Greer in 1956 and together they raised five children and had many nieces, nephews, and brothers as part of their family through the years. Huey was a welder "one of the best" around these parts all of his adult life. He pipelined, worked at Shoemaker and Sons Welding as foreman for years and had his own business, Huey Franks Welding Service for a good number of years, building for the farmers and doing repair work for them to keep them in the fields. He also worked at Sun Oil Company in Delhi for about 15 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman for most of his life. He could bring home the meat and coolers full of fish anytime and every time he had the chance to go. He was a mentor for his nephews, brothers, and friends teaching them some of his secrets; but not all of them. He loved to entertain folks, cooking on the grill and fish fries; as long as he was able. He mentored many young men over the years on good work ethics and how to treat folks. He had welder's helpers from all walks of life. Some had gone on to be teachers, principals, doctors, and lawyers, as well as very good welders with Mr. Huey's guidance. Huey and Maggie were blessed with 5-children, Huey, Debbie, Rachel, Cindy, and Randy. From these children they received 14-grandchildren with 20-great grandchildren; and 2 more on the way. Nieces and nephews who lived with Nanny and Papa over the years added lots of love and laughter to the mix as well with their children and grandchildren. Huey was preceded in death by his parents, David and Birdie Brown Franks; sisters, Helen Nobles and Merlene Russell; brothers, Lewis "Pete" Franks, Leroy Franks, Rogers Franks, Gary Franks, and Tommy Franks; son-in-law, Chuck Stephenson; and grandson, Mo Stephenson.
