He died Monday, March 20, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was the owner and auctioneer of Franks' Antique Auction for 40 years (1971-2011). He also owned Franks' Trucking for numerous years. Lawrence was well known for his whit and humor. Even as an auctioneer he would throw in one-liners drawing a chuckle from the entire crowd and those working the the auction. Those who knew him will not forget his lively stories and bois boisterous laugh. Further, Lawrence was a rock for the entire family. Many family members started th their first job working in his auction. He was always there when anyone needed a a hand. He is preceded in death by his parents, John E. Franks, I and Floyce Patrick Fr Franks; brothers, Edward L. Franks, Roy R. Franks, Sr., R. Doyle Franks, John E. E. Franks, II, and J.T. "Pete" Franks, Sr.; sisters, Bessie Guidry and El Elizabeth Lee. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Maggie Franks; ex-wife, Gloria Franks Cashion; sons, Lawrence A. Franks, Jr., Johnny LaGrown Franks, and Ronnie Lynn Taylor, Jr.; brothers, Noel M. Franks, Steve K. Franks, Sr., and William Z. "Bud" Franks; sisters Thelma Penix, Lucy Humble, Floyce R. Franks, and Susie Burt; one uncle, Reverend Troy Patrick; and one aunt, Barbara Butler. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and many good friends. Griffin Funeral Home of West Monroe Louisiana will handle the cremation. A private memorial service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017.
