John Paul dedicated his too-short life and multiple talents to nurturing a community of holistic education that prioritized moral values, good health, community involvement, and responsible citizenship through 27 years at Stratford. John Paul is survived by his wife, Helen Anderson Gaddy; and daughters, Tindal, Maggie, and Riley; as well as his parents, Judy and Welton Gaddy; along with his brother, James; his sister-in-law, Amanda; and their two sons, Reynolds and Jameson, who saw "Uncle John Paul" as the most special person in their lives outside their parents. Because of his long tenure in Middle Georgia and his involvement in various organizations, John Paul is also leaving behind innumerable parents whose children were touched deeply by his love and care and friends who delighted in his wonderful sense of humor, knowledge of current affairs, and exemplary integrity. A celebration of the life of John Paul Gaddy will take place Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 5:30 PM in the gymnasium at Stratford Academy. Everybody is welcome for this time of fellowship and enjoying pizza, John Paul's frequently noted favorite meal. Casual dress is appropriate. In addition, a private memorial service will be held for the family. The world is a better place because of the contributions that John Paul Gaddy has made to it and to generations of students that are now responsible parents and influential public leaders. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stratford Academy in memory of John Paul Gaddy, 6010 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31220. Donations should be identified as contributions to the "John Paul Gaddy Fund" that will be used in compliance with his wishes.
