GERALDINE GAINES

Funeral Services for Gerri Gaines 82, of Weston, LA will be held at 2 PM 
Saturday, April, 19, 2014 at the Hodge United Methodist Church, Hodge, LA with 
Rev. Dick Hooton and Rev. Bill Strawbridge officiating. Interment will follow 
at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Jonesboro.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at 
Edmonds Funeral Home, Jonesboro.

Gerri was born to Lamar and Grace Hathaway August 7, 1931, in Hodge and passed 
away Thursday, April 17, 2014. She was at home in Weston, with her family 
beside her.

She graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute and taught Home Economics 
in Baskin, LA. After teaching for a year, she met and married the love of her 
life, Roy Edward Gaines. She was devoted to her husband and family, and 
through which her legacy will live.

She was a member of the Hodge United Methodist Church. Gerri loved, and was in 
turn loved by her church family.

She is survived by husband Roy of 59 years; two daughters and their husbands, 
Gayla and Walter Abbott of Ruston, Lisa and Marty Folden of Weston, and son 
Eddie and wife Wendy of Weston; grandchildren, Melissa Borland, Amy Middleton, 
Katie Abbott and Blake Gaines, five great-grandchildren. She is also survived 
by sisters, Natalie Ford and husband Troy, Faye Massey, Linda Hightower and 
Sharon Hathaway.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hodge United Methodist Church or 
Louisiana Methodist Children's Home.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregiver Martha Duck 
and the wonderful staff of Hospice of Caring Hearts.
