Funeral services will be Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Alabama Presbyterian Church in Choudrant with Dr. Allison Moody officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Sibley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Aubrey was born, November 1, 1926, at home in Indian Village, Louisiana, to M.M. and Allie (Smith) Gaston. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II on Okinawa. Aubrey retired from South Central Bell Telephone Company in 1984 after 33 years. He and his wife owned Choudrant Appliance for 5 years following his retirement from the telephone company. He was very active at Alabama Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder for many years. Aubrey had an unmatched love for life and family as reflected in his faith, fish fries, frequent coffee chats at Mini Mart, and presence at church. Leading his family by example, he was always willing to extend a hand to help others and give blessings of thanks over each Sunday family dinner. Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Martha Ann (Davis) Gaston; four children and their spouses, Terri (Gaston) and Garry Neal, Mark and Lisa Gaston, Timothy and Lori Gaston, and Amanda (Gaston) and Richard Bowman; four grandchildren, Kelly Neal Williams, Katie Neal, Matthew Gaston (Katy), and Molly Gaston; and five great grandchildren, Aubrey Claire Williams, Avery Catherine Williams, Mason Gaston Lynch, Matthew Augustus Gaston and Sophia Grace Gaston. Pallbearers will be Aubrey's nephews, Billy Gaston, Jack Gaston, Wes Hilborn, Col. Randy Hilborn, Gary Hilborn, and Jeff Bunn. Honorary pallbearers are Don Wills, Johnny Hale, and the Men of the Church. Visitation will be at 1PM, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Alabama Presbyterian Church in Choudrant. Memorials can be made to Alabama Presbyterian Church at 2091 Highway 145, Choudrant, LA 71227.
