GAY Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA Funeral services for Mr. Everett L. Gay, 80, of Monroe will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 20, 2008 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Roger Stouffer officiating with the assistance of Rev. Ronnie Wyrick. Entombment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Gay passed away Tuesday at his residence, December 16, 2008. Mr. Gay was an Army Air Force Veteran. After an honorable discharge from the service, he began pipelining. Retired from Local 406, he was a heavy equipment operator for pipelines for twenty-two years. He was then an owner-operator for Melton Truck Lines for seventeen years. He then returned to pipelining for ten years, until he retired in 2008. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Edith Marie Harrison Gay; parents, Henry B. Gay and wife Eulla; three stepsisters; two brothers, H.B. Gay and Floyd Gay; one sister, Juanita Rich; brothers-in-law, Garvis Buchanan, Lunk Barnes, C.H. Hensley, and Delbert Harrison; sisters-in- law, Frances Barnes and Margaret Hensley. Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his two sons, Jimmy Floyd Gay and wife Elizabeth of Monroe, LA and Billy Joe Gay of Redland CA; one sister, Myrtle Marie Buchanan of Leonard, TX; one brother, Gerald Gay of Forney, TX; one granddaughter, Kristy Gay of San Bernardino, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Homer Brashear, John Brashear, J.L. Harrison, Billy Gay, Billy Gay, Jr., and Joe Young. Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Gay. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, December 19, 2008 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Drs Hospice Association, Kathy Lenard, Glenda, Dr. David Yarbrough, and Dr. Thomas Williams.
