JOHN RUSSELL GILCHRIST

Memorial services for John Russell Gilchrist, Sr., 89, of Oak Ridge, LA, will 
be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church 
in Oak Ridge, LA, with Rev. Nat Barnett officiating, under direction of 
Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mr. Gilchrist was born on January 27, 1927 and died Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He 
was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. 
After he completed a 27-year career with the City of Dallas, Mr. Gilchrist 
retired and became a locksmith and enjoyed a successful second career as an 
entrepreneur. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed building keepsake items 
for family members, especially for his grandchildren.

Mr. Gilchrist was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years Martha Ann 
Loughridge Gilchrist; and his parents, Boyd Gilchrist and Janice Harper 
Gilchrist.

Survivors include son, John Gilchrist, Jr. and wife Amy; daughter, Tina Miller 
and husband Rick; three grandchildren, Caitlin, Chase, and Victoria, and 
special family members, Mildred Lynn Loughridge Kovac and her husband, Ken, and 
Rush Loughridge.

A reception for friends and family will be at the church following the service.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Nelson Yount, Dr. Greg 
Sampognaro, and his home health worker, Kenya, of AlphaCare Home Health in 
Monroe.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the 
charity of your choice .
