GOODSON Osborn Funeral Home Shreveport, LA Joyce M. Goodson passed away in Dallas May 24. She had moved from Shreveport Louisiana in 2007 to be near her family. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Avenue in Shreveport on Monday, June 1 between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. A graveside funeral service is planned for Tuesday, June 2 at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Cemetery located at 3700 Saint Vincent Avenue in Shreveport. Joyce was born in Bernice, Louisiana in 1924. She was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. She moved to Shreveport from Monroe to work for the Veterans Administration. Joyce was a long time member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church and the Shreveport Geological Society Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband John P. Goodson, Sr., mother Claudia Caldwell Miller, father Thomas Miller Sr. and brother Thomas Miller Jr. and his wife Geneva. She is survived by sons John P. Goodson Jr. and his wife Gail of Dallas TX, Charles T. Goodson and his wife Jeanne of Lafayette LA; granddaughters Fallon P. Goodson, Caroline A. Goodson, Katherine Hodgins and husband Norman F. III, Elizabeth Dupuy and husband Jordan, Carrie deVries and husband Maurice, and Kindall G. McElwee; great grandsons Maurice "Reese" deVries IV, John Marshall deVries, Alexander T. Dupuy and Madison Dupuy. Pallbearers are Maurice deVries, Ben Lay, Dr. Mitchell Wilder, Arthur Trowbridge, Jordan Dupuy, Norman Hodgins III, Albert M. Barro, Gregory J. Barro and Gerry Huddleston. Honorary pallbearer is Dr. W.M. Wilder. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff and attendants of the Plaza at Edgemere in Dallas, Texas where Joyce resided during the past two years.
