GREEN Funeral services for Mr. Alvin Y. Green, Sr age 89, of Bernice LA will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Bernice United Methodist Church in Bernice , LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Johnie Adkins Interment will follow at Bernice City Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Mr. Green was born December 15, 1924 and passed away July 11, 2014. Mr. Green was a WWII Veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the USS Monterey. In 1956 Mr. Green started working at Green Chevrolet with his mother, Lottie Pepper and father, J.Y. Green. In 1965 Mr. Green took over the operation of the dealership and in 1966, he moved from Farmerville to Bernice. In 1957 he was appointed to the founding board of the Darbonne Lake Commission. Alvin Green was the last surviving founding board member. He also served as the President of Darbonne Water System. Mr. Green served his community in many ways including; The Board of Directors of Union State Bank, Councilman for the Town of Bernice, Bernice Industrial Development Corporation, Bernice Business Club, and was a part of the Corney Creek Hall of Fame. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Directors for many years. He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Sibyl H. Green of Bernice; sons: Preston Pepper Green of Bernice, and Silas Rockford (Rocky) Green and wife Mary Kathryn; grandchildren: Dustin Green, Will Green, Adam Green, Austin Green, Connor Green, Annie Green Wise and Chance Green; and great grandchildren: Sophie Wise, Wesley Wise, Olivia Wise, and Tatum May Green. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Bernice United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Dustin Green, Will Green, Adam Green, Danny Tettleton, Don Williams, Paul Hayes, Rick Todd and Eddie Lee. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bernice United Methodist Church.
