A few months later, on Saturday, November 22, at 8PM, they were married. R.B. and Estelle spent the last few days of their life on this earth at their home in Rayville in hospital beds side by side. They continued to encourage one another, sing songs to one another and assure the other of how much they were loved. R.B. passed away first and less than 12 hours later Estelle joined him. Life here for one without the other was impossible. Estelle was born in Hebert, LA on December 3, 1912. R.B. was born in Morton, MS on January 6, 1917. He served in the US Army during WWII. He managed the Farm Service Agency in Rayville until he retired at age 57. He then began farming with his two sons. Estelle was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life revolved around family. She spent a lot of her time nurturing the family, gardening and sewing for her two daughters. The couple raised four children, Judy McKinstry Morgan, husband, Del; Annette Brown, husband, Mark; R.B. Green, Jr, wife, Kathy, and Raymond Green, wife Lisa. Tootsie and Papa were blessed with eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. And now, the love story continues… Funeral services for Estelle Mitchell and Rushing Butler Green will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville with Rev. John Albright officiating. Interment will be in the Greer Cemetery, Rayville, LA. Visitation is 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, Wednesday at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville.
