Mrs. Griggs was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Levi Maddocks and Edna Lishness Maddocks, her sister Madelyn Morrison, and her husband of nearly 33 years, John Bennett Griggs. Mrs. Griggs was born January 1, 1921 in Chelsea, Maine. She moved with her family to Louisiana in 1936. Mrs. Griggs was a graduate of Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech. She served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army 1907th Service Command Unit at Fort Dix, NJ from 1943 to 1946. After leaving the Army, Mrs. Griggs worked as the office manager for an energy firm prior to her retirement. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Ruston where she attended the Faith Sunday School Class. She had a deep and abiding love for animals and loved taking care of her cats and dogs. Mrs. Griggs leaves behind many close friends in her church family and in her community. Memorials are requested to be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or the Humane Society of the United States.
