Marcelle Crow officiating and interment will follow at Monroe Memorial Park under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mr. Groom was born September 7, 1925 in Morrilton, AR and passed away at home on March 1, 2009. He was a member of Reveille Methodist Church in Monroe, LA and American Legion Post 13. He was a retired Plant Superintendent for Borden Milk Company and served with the U. S. Marine Corps in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Thelma Groom and 6 brothers, Orville, William, Mitchell, Wayne, Marlin, and Donald Groom. Mr. Groom is survived by his wife of 62 years: Mary Groom of Monroe; sisters: Maxine G. Hall of Leechburg, PA and Willa Jennings of Midland, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made to the Animal Shelter, 417 Well Road, West Monroe, LA 71202.
