JANIS P. GUYTON

Janis P. Guyton was born on January 17, 1948 in Monroe, LA and passed away on 
March 11, 2016. She graduated as Valedictorian from Holly Ridge High School and 
received a Bachelor's Degree from Northeast Louisiana University (ULM). Janis 
worked at ULM for three decades as a Computer Programmer. In addition to her 
full-time career, Janis enjoyed working as a Real Estate agent/investor in her 
spare time. She enjoyed a lifelong commitment to the United Methodist Church, 
most recently serving in various leadership capacities with Memorial United 
Methodist Church. Janis served the Louisiana Federation of Business & 
Professional Women in every office of the Local BPW Monroe-West Monroe Chapter, 
and all offices at the District and State levels. Janis was a member of the 
prestigious LA BPW Past Presidents Council. In addition she was a recipient of 
the coveted BPW Nike Award.

Janis was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Wynn Powell, Rayville, LA; 
brother, Ralph V. Powell, Jr., Rayville, LA; sister, Penny V. Powell, Terrell, 
TX and brother, Mark W. Powell, Rayville, LA.

Janis is survived by her father, Ralph V. Powell, Rayville, LA; son and 
daughter-in-law, Joseph & Deanne Williams, Santa Clarita, CA; step-son and 
daughter-in-law, Chad & Shannon Guyton, Crowley, TX; step-son and daughter-in-
law, Tommy & Leslie Guyton, West Monroe, LA; brother and sister-in-law, David & 
Kristen Powell, Las Vegas, NV; brother, Benny Powell, Terrell, TX; uncle, Bill 
Wynn of Monroe, LA; seven grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews and 
countless friends.

A Memorial & Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, 
April 16, 2016 at Memorial United Methodist Church located at 401 Sherrouse 
Avenue in Monroe, LA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the ULM Monroe/West 
Monroe Business and Professional Women's Scholarship Fund specified "In Memory 
of Janis Guyton". Memorial donations can be made via www.ulm.edu/foundation or
