Mrs. Hakim, a resident of Monroe, Louisiana passed away Wednesday January 28, 2009 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas at the age of 86. Mrs. Hakim was a dedicated member of Women's Army Auxiliary Corps during World War II. She participated in local affairs serving as a member of the Lions Club, Bayou Desiard Country Club, and The Monroe Bridge Center. She was a Bronze Life Master at bridge with the American Contract Bridge League as well as a long time Monroe business woman. Mrs. Hakim was also an avid backgammon player with family and friends. Mrs. Hakim captured the essence of the Hakim family and is survived by 7 children, Saul and his wife Raquel, Betty and her husband Martin, Theda and her husband Jack, Eddie and his wife Penny, Jack and his wife Grace, Joseph and his wife Sharon, Shirley and her husband Ralph; three sisters and three brothers, 26 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and her long time friend of 63 years Mrs. Shirley Moses. She is preceded in death by her husband Abraham Saul Hakim; sister Rachel; brother Jack. Mrs. Louise Hakim was a true all around woman of family and made it appear effortless. She is remembered for her immense charm, enthusiasm for life, and gracious nature.
