He was born and raised in the Hall Hotel, a Delhi landmark for 50 years. He was a 1951 graduate of Delhi High School, where he played football. He was involved in Boy Scouts from a young age, earning his Eagle Scout rank in 1948 and his 80th Merit badge (honorary) in 2010. He graduated from Louisiana Tech with a B. A. in Geography with a minor in History and a B. S. in Business with an emphasis on Sales, Management and Marketing. He wedded Nancy Durrett, of Arcadia, Louisiana in 1955. Johnny Hall entered the armed forces, serving 2 years in the Naval Reserves Active Duty and gave 18 years of dedicated service to the Coast Guard Reserve where he retired as Commander from his post on Governor's Island, New York. Johnny Hall spent his career as an insurance executive with New York Life Insurance Company. In 1967, he received the C. L. U. designation from Syracuse University. He worked for many years in the corporate office in New York City, residing in Ramsey, NJ, After 37 years in Ramsey, NJ, Johnny and Nancy moved back to their beloved Ruston, LA. Ira John "Johnny" Hall is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years, Nancy Durrett Hall and by his two brothers, Thomas Lavaugh Hall and Charles Peyton Hall. He is survived by a daughter, Rachel May (Ernest May III) of Great Falls, VA; a son, Andrew Hall (Lori) of Nevis; a son, Timothy John Hall (Dawn Hail) of Monroe, LA, a daughter, Rebecca Burton (Larry Burton) of Arlington, VA, He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday September 7, 2013 at 9am Grace United Methodist Church, 3401 North Trenton Street, Ruston, LA, followed by a Memorial Service and Fellowship at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery Lincoln Parish, Simsboro, Louisiana.
