JAY D. HAMMOCK

Funeral services for Mr. Jay D. Hammock, age 58 of Ruston, will be held at 
10:00 AM Thursday, September 13, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Ruston. Dr. 
Chris Craig will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Pines Memorial 
Gardens in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of 
Ruston. 

Mr. Hammock was born July 12, 1954 in Ruston to John Donald Hammock and 
Barbara Brooks Hammock. He died September 9, 2012 in Ruston. Mr. Hammock was a 
graduate of Ruston High and Louisiana Tech University and was an Insurance 
Agent for the Brooks Hammock Insurance Agency. He was very active in community 
service and gave his time to the Ruston Lion's Club, the Ruston Jaycees, was a 
member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and was a Scout Master for Boy Scout 
Troop 45. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ruston and sang in the 
church choir. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to Ruston High School 
football games, watching football and westerns on television, going to museums 
and "taking pictures of pictures" but especially he loved spending time with 
his family. Mr. Hammock's wish was that he would be able to be a donor and his 
wish was able to be fulfilled. 

Mr. Hammock is survived by his wife of 23 years: Janet Lamkin Hammock; 
children: Mary Katherine (Katie) and husband Doyle Allen Sandifer, Kevin Scott 
Sherrard and wife Lennie and Matthew Loyd; grandson: Ryan Allen Sandifer, his 
mother: Barbara Brooks Hammock; his twin sister: Kay and husband Marty 
Baumgarder; his other sisters: Gayle and husband Robert Martin and Donna and 
husband Carey Young; his brother: David Hammock and wife Michelle; his aunt: 
Joy Brooks Campbell as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other 
relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father: John 
Donald Hammock. 

Visiatation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 12, 
2012 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. 

Memorials may be made to the Matthew Loyd Education Expenses account at Iberia 
Bank in Ruston
