Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Mount Nebo Community Church in Downsville with Rev. Ron Lowe and Rev. Billy Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Hancock was born October 29, 1933 to John C. and Una Davis. She died October 24, 2008 at her home in Rocky Branch. She was a member of the Mount Nebo Community Church and was a homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching preaching on television, flower gardening and reading. Mrs. Hancock is survived by her sons: James K. Hancock and wife Glenda of Downsville, Billy Hancock and wife Debra of Indianapolis, IN and Johnny Hancock and wife Nellie of Rocky Branch; daughter: Jewel Hager and husband Steve of Buklin, KS; grandchildren: Nicky Hancock, Walter Hancock, Katina Adkins, Melissa Kennedy, Michael Hancock, Julie Hancock, Brandy Hager, James Anthony Hager, Elaina Hancock and John P. Hancock; 12 great grandchildren; one brother: Virgil Davis and wife Yvette of Jonesboro; one sister: Helen Payton and husband Danny of Choudrant; one sister-in-law: Jewel Thurston of Houston, TX as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Hancock, her sons: David Hancock and Steve Hancock; grandchildren: Tamara, Jennifer, and Wesley; three brothers and one sister. Pallbearers will be Nicky Hancock, Walter Hancock, Hunter Hancock, Michael Hancock, Danny Payton and Matt Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be James Anthony "Bubba" Hager and Brandi Hager.
