Lawrence Gary Haney, age 61, who was a native of West Monroe, Louisiana, flew with the angels into the arms of our Lord. Gary, as everyone knew him, was larger than life and his heart was the same. He played football for the West Monroe High School Rebels during his high school career and later went on to work for the General Motors Corporation from which he retired after 32 years of service. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, which was always how he made people love him and want to be in his presence. He always had a quick witted remark or a goofy joke on hand for family and friends. He loved to be silly and was always playing pranks on his kids and grand children. He kept everyone rolling with laughter at family functions and loved to do so. Gary had a big heart for people and it showed in his daily life. He always loved people from every background and walk of life and instilled his love of others in his children. He loved metal detecting, Led Zeppelin, and Edgar Allen Poe. Food was a passion of his, and anyone who really knew him well, will remember his love for a "double beef whopper with cheese". He will be sorely missed by those of us left behind, but we are sure he is giving God quite a chuckle right now. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Everitt Haney and his mother, Sybil Haney. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sonia Lee Haney; a daughter, Miranda Leane Haney Duncan and her husband, David Duncan, Jr. , and their children, Holly, Gaby, and Tristan. He is also survived by a son, Brock Elliot Haney and his wife, Bliss Haney and their six children, Lennon, Canyon, Manny, Nathan, Daniel, and Jessica. Gary has two surviving brothers, Myers Everitt Haney and Don Edward Haney. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters in marriage and numerous nieces and nephews who all meant the world to him.
