Reverend Tim Johnson and Andy Brister will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Forest Cemetery in Forest, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Lake Providence. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 between the hours of 5 PM until 8 PM at Cox Funeral Home, 210 North Hood Street, Lake Providence, Louisiana. Mr. Hankins passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana. Excell was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Lake Providence. He was a retired banker at Bank of Dixie. He was Assistant County Agent in Caldwell Parish & East Carroll Parish. He was a credit manager for Ouachita Fertilizer in Monroe. A veteran of WWII, Excell served as a waist gunner on a B-24 with the 8th Air Force in the European Theatre where he flew 30 missions. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas Owen Hankins and Myra Bufkin Hankins, and his brother and sister-in-law, Myron Lavelle Hankins and Hilda Rae "Tookey" Smith Hankins. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jo Ann Smith Hankins of Lake Providence; daughter, Belinda Jo Hankins Jordan of Lake Providence; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Teresa Hankins of Bastrop, Louisiana; granddaughter, Christina Jordan of Oak Grove, Louisiana; grandson, Zack Hankins of Sterlington, Louisiana; granddaughter and her husband, Trisha Hankins Addison and John Addison of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and four great grandchildren, Lauren Jordan, Michael Thomas Gorden, Emma Jordan and Easton Jordan. Pallbearers are Paul Brown, Zack Hankins, Paul LeBeau, Phillip Stafford, Joe Thornhill and Mike Venable. Honorary Pallbearers are: Sydney Barnett, Buddy Fairchild, Charles Venable and Deacons of First Baptist Church in Lake Providence. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Lake Providence or Briarfield Academy in Lake Providence.
