Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes. Jackie died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at her home in Ruston. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on March 14, 1927 raised in El Paso, Texas and Ruston. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and graduated from Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas and where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T.L. James Sr., her parents, Lewis and Helen James, her husband Hamp Hanks, and her sister, Laura James Hunt. She is survived by her four children Lewis Hanks, Austin, Texas, Bill Hanks, and wife Lynn, Plano, Texas, Buck Hanks and wife Martha, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Tracey Hanks, Ruston; grandchildren Ford, Whitney, Cannon, Gaines, and Shelby Hanks, two brothers-in-laws, Dock Hanks and wife Debbie and A.T. Hunt, Jr. and wife Sallie and nephews and their wives, Trott and Karen Hunt, Jimmy and Ann Hunt and their children. Her family wishes to extend sincerest gratitude to her many lifelong friends and acquaintances who remember her as unassuming, unpretentious, gracious, and fun-loving. One of Jackie's special pleasures was always helping others from all walks of life without need for recognition or acknowledgement. The oldest grandchild of T.L. and Maggie James, Jackie treasured her many aunts and uncles, her big family, and her church, Trinity United Methodist Church, to which she belonged her entire life. Pallbearers are Ford Hanks, Cannon Hanks, Gaines Hanks, Trotter Hunt, Jack Hunt, Cass Hunt, Jim Hunt, and Tommy Hunt. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Napper, Bill Rogers, Bill Carter, Scotty Robertson, Mickey Mays, Joe Reeves, Pat Garrett, and Don Cochran.
