COLEY HAM HANSBROUGH

Coley Ham Hansbrough, 81, died at home on December 27, 2008, following a long 
illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 2, 2009, 
at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 3301 St. Matthias Drive in Shreveport, LA. 
The Rev. Dr. Bill McBride will officiate. Interment will be held on Monday, 
January 5 at the NW LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 1 at Rose-
Neath Funeral Home, Southside Drive.

Mrs. Hansbrough was born September 21, 1927, in Greenville, MS, during the 
flood, the elder daughter of Charles Milton Ham and Coley Erwin Ham and the 
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Ham. She was married for more than fifty 
years to her childhood sweetheart, Robert Harold Hansbrough, also of 
Greenville, with whom she reared three daughters. During their years of 
residence in Greenville she was active in her church and the community. In 
1968 the family moved to Monroe, LA, where Mrs. Hansbrough continued her 
service through her church activities at Grace Episcopal Church, particularly 
in ECW and the Altar Guild.

Following retirement the Hansbroughs lived at Hardtner Camp and Conference 
Center, Pollock, LA, where Mrs. Hansbrough was engaged in the ministry of 
hospitality. She received a number of awards, among them the Distinguished 
Servant Ministry Award in 2002 for 21 years of dedicated, faithful and 
committed service to the Bishop, clergy and people of the Episcopal Diocese of 
Western Louisiana. She was a recipient of the Bishop's Mount Olivet Award in 
2004. In that year the Hansbroughs moved to Shreveport and transferred their 
church membership to St. Matthias, where Mrs. Hansbrough continued her service 
as the founding member of the St. Clair chapter of the Daughters of the King.

Mrs. Hansbrough is survived by her husband Bob; her three daughters, Ann 
Elizabeth Bishop of Tecumseh, KS, Coley Lou Hansbrough of Shreveport, LA, and 
Renee Susan Hansbrough of Baton Rouge, LA; sister Renee Paxton of Branson, MO; 
three grandchildren, Robert Daniel Bishop of Kansas City, MO, Glenn Ashley 
Carroll of Baton Rouge, LA, and Charlotte Emily Bishop of Tecumseh, KS; and 
one great-grandchild, Madeline Coley Bishop of Kansas City, MO.

The family is especially grateful for the love and care given to Mrs. 
Hansbrough by Reneé and Corry Wiggins as well as other family members and 
friends. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Manish Dhawan of Shreveport, LA, 
Dr. Rama Koya of Longview, TX, and the staff of Willis-Knighton Hospice.

Gifts in memory of Coley Ham Hansbrough may be made to the St. Clair chapter 
of the Daughters of the King c/o St. Matthias Episcopal Church.
