Harris) ROSE-NEATH MARSHALL STREET Shreveport, LA Vivian Hannsz Harris, 89, of Shreveport, LA and formerly of West Monroe, LA and San Antonio, TX died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services celebrating Vivian's life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2009, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Tom Harrison and Dr. Larry Williams of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rose-Neath Cemetery, Swan Lake Road, Bossier City, LA. The family will receive visitors from 1:30 PM. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Harris was born in San Antonio, TX on September 18, 1919 to the late William A. and Louie Shofner Hannsz. Vivian married her high school sweetheart, the late Joseph (Joe) A. Harris on October 12, 1939. Vivian was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and served over 50 years as a Sunday School teacher in various churches, including First Baptist Church of West Monroe and First Baptist Church, Houston, TX. She loved and served the Lord and faithfully taught her children to trust in the Lord. A devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother, she fervently supported her husband's professional, religious, and civic activities and commitments. Preceding Vivian in death are her parents, William A. and Louie Hannsz, and her husband of 68 years, Joseph A. Harris. Left to cherish Vivian's memory are her children, William A. Harris, Sr. and wife, Julia, Martha Harris Jackson and husband, Howard all of Monroe, LA, and Carolyn Jo Harris Lipsey and husband, Fred of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Dianne McIntosh, William A. Harris, Jr., Joseph Harris, Elizabeth Jobe, Ric Lipsey and Jamie Jones; and 10 great grandchildren. The family wishes to express its appreciation to the staff of Christus Schumpert Hospice and Grace Home.
