Dale was born on June 19, 1939 to the parents of George Marion Harris and Willie Mary Smith. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jessie Clay Harris. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Saundra Ann Berry Harris; daughter, Jill Harris Ray (Rodney) of West Monroe, Louisiana; brother-in-law, Roy Eugene Berry (Cathy) of Monroe; sister-in-law, Ila Berry Skeen (Jimmy) of Monroe; grandchildren, Garrett Kane Hudson, Brandon Dale Ray, Ryan Andrew Ray (Haylee), and Amber Flores (Jesus); great grandkids, Ryan Andrew Ray, Jr, Ella-Kate Opal Ray, Micah Alejandro Flores & Isaac Manuel Flores; nephew, George Curtis Harris; niece, Susan Harris Burns. Dale was a 1957 graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and attended Northeast Louisiana College (ULM) during which time he faithfully served in the Louisiana National Guard for nine years. Dale worked as Director of Vessels and Tanks for James Machine Works, Inc. in Monroe, LA for over 35 years and was a member of Loch Arbor Baptist Church, Swartz, LA, where he served as Chairman of Deacons and taught Sunday School Classes for over 40 years. Dale also proudly served with The Gideon International until his health began to fail. He took great pleasure in God's creations including fishing and hunting as well as spending time with his family and his special K-9 companion, Prissy. Dale had many professional accomplishments including the distinguished title of "Inventor" because of his two patents with U.S. Government. The family would like to thank the offices of Dr. Barry Weinberger and Dr. William Zollinger for their care of Dale during his battle with cancer. Our Papaw, as he was affectionately called by his family and loved ones, will be dearly missed, but we rejoice in the fact that we will see him again in Heaven. Visitation will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 27. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 28, 2014, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Sikes officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Spier, Charles Canterbury, Charles Tullos, Raymond Parks, Damon Burney, Randy McManus, Clyde Lowery and Jim Glass. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacon's from Loch Arbor Baptist Church. Memorials can be made to the Hanoch Fund at Loch Arbor Baptist Church.
