HATCH Charles Noble Hatch, Jr. The name itself stands alone as a legend and a legacy of one of the greatest men ever to those that knew him. Noble had a larger than life personality during his 69 years here on earth. There was never a stranger that crossed his path. He knew and loved everyone and everyone that knew him loved him. Noble was born on May 1, 1945 as the only son of Charles Noble Hatch, Sr. and Jessie McClain Hatch. He grew up in southern Richland Parish in Charlieville, LA on Hatch Bend by Bouef River. He left this earth for his eternal home on May 6, 2014. He was preceded in his journey by his parents and daughter Gayle Lane "Laney" Hatch. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Marilyn Vining Hatch; former wife and the mother of his children, Camille Hatch; their daughter Sammi Smith & husband Tim; and their son Charles Noble Hatch, III & companion Becca Steed; Marilyn's children: daughter Paula Whitten; daughter Sandy Wilson & companion Harvey Marcus; son David Wilson. He had 12 grandchildren: Jessica Dorais, Julie French; Justin, Robert, and Taylor Bryan; Stevi Hatch; Grace Smith; Lacie Carter; Blake & Logan Aaron; Dylan & Natalie Wilson. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Noble's unspoken motto in life was, "Go Big or Go Home!" This was evident in all he said and did. He loved to cook for the masses at the ULM Grove, OPHS reunions, Ducks Unlimited banquets, family gatherings, annual Denmon Engineering crawfish boils, or whatever occasion arose. He loved to fish, travel the country and dance. He would often set up his camper in several different exotic locations with Marilyn and his buddy Mike Bonnette. He and Marilyn especially loved to travel to Sulfur every year for the La High School Girls' Softball State Championship Tournament. As a great storyteller, he shared many of his stories on Wednesday afternoons at the Round Table with lifelong friends Sal Petito, Ginny Ott, Mollie May Harrel, Joe & Nancy Mulhearn, Lisa Evans, Jean Cotton, Jack & Nell Plummer, Gail & David Hall, Big Ike & Maureen McMullen, and Gurvis Hall. Noble loved his family most of all. He taught his boys how to be strong men and live with honor, integrity and respect. He always had a soft spot for all his girls, including his canine girls, Fe Fe and Frauline. Noble also loved his country. He served in Vietnam in 1967-1968 as an E-5 sergeant in Alpha Company, 65th Combat Engineering of the 25th Infantry Division. He had a lifelong dream of one day reuniting with his military buddies. Now he has been eternally reunited with so many of them that served and fought for our freedom. When he returned from Vietnam, he served on the Monroe Police Dept. as an officer and detective. He then worked for Smith & Sanders as a land surveyor before landing his dream job as a land surveyor at Denmon Engineering. He spent the last 37 years of his life faithfully devoted to his friend Terry Denmon and his family at Denmon Engineering. Over these past 4 months, Noble endured the challenges of end stage COPD. In the end, he won, for he is eternally healed. Our family will be forever grateful for the angels of mercy at St Francis who ushered him into the presence of Christ with mercy, dignity, and grace: Dr John Bruchhaus, Dr Richard Fincher; Dr Jimmy Smith and colleagues, the nursing staff of St Francis Medical center ER, SICU, MICU, 7th floor, and 5th floor. We would also like to thank his healthcare providers Dr William Smith and Terry Dees NP, Dr Greg Sampognaro and Bo Ryals NP, and Dr Antii Maran. The family requests that you join them to celebrate the life of Charles Noble Hatch, Jr. Memorial services will be Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 12 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd., Monroe. Visitation will be from 10 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Noble and the family request that donations be made to St Jude Children's Home in Memphis, TN.
