JEANNINE HAWKINS

Memorial service for Jeannine Hawkins, 85, of Monroe, LA, will be held 2:00PM 
Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe with The Very Rev. 
Richard Norman officiating, under the directon of Mulhearn Funeral Home, 
Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Jeannine Hawkins was born March 28, 1929, and died on June 25, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A.L. Hawkins and Myrtis M. Hawkins of 
Epps, Louisiana. She is survived by one sister, Cherry Corliss; cousins, Sybil 
Shivers, Frances Woodard and Dwain Tharp; her adopted family: William Don Smith, 
Tressa Carpenter, Robin and Richard D. Elkins, and children Caleb, Ashley Paige, 
Cody, Neely and Jase.

She graduated from Epps High in May 1946, and went on to receive her BA Degree 
in Education from Northeast Louisiana University in May, 1952. She received her 
Masters, and thirty plus from Louisiana Tech in 1969. She retired after teaching 
for thirty three years for the Ouachita Parish School System. Jeannine was a 
member of Grace Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry, the Altar 
Guild, and was a member of Daughters of the King and Daughters of the Holy 
Cross. She was deeply devoted to Grace and her Church family.
