Jimmy Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow in the New Forest Cemetery in Forest, Louisiana. She was born August 22, 1932 in Pioneer, LA and passed away February 13, 2015 in Monroe, LA after a lengthy illness. Annette was a lifelong member of Pioneer United Methodist Church and worked tirelessly for the church. She was a great friend to many in the community and was always willing to help those in need. Annette graduated from Northeast Louisiana State College in 1955 with a degree in elementary education. She was an exceptional educator and taught 23 years at Pioneer Elementary School in West Carroll Parish. During this time, she taught many grade levels, often at the same time. In her younger years, she was an outstanding athlete and followed sports her entire life. She enjoyed outings with friends, whether it was shopping, eating, ball games, or plays at the Little Theatre. They always had great fun. She also took great pleasure in having her great nieces and nephews over to visit and play. Her passion in life, however, was yard work and most days you could find her on her riding mower. It was truly a labor of love. Mrs. Head is preceded in death by her husband Alvin Ray "Buddy" Head, her parents Clifton Otis and Lukie Goyne Vining, and her brother Clifton Otis Vining, Jr. Survivors include her daughter Cindy Ann Head of Monroe, brother Billy Raymond Vining and wife Bea of Pioneer, sister-in-law, Cora White Vining of Pioneer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are: Robert Berry, Phillip Morris, Waco Bankston, Bo Cook, Mack Albritton, and Frankie Jones. The family would like to extend a word of thanks to Trellis Sullivan, Dr. Benjamin Weinberger, the staff at Oncology Associates, and the staff at Avalon Place Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion.
