HEARD A celebration of the life of Virginia L. Heard, 93, will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Otis Moore and Rev. Butch Pilcher officiating. Interment will follow in Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe. Her loving family surrounded her when she passed away at her home on September 3, 2014 following a lengthy illness. She loved the Lord and served him with her whole heart and passed on her Godly values to her family and to those she came in contact with. Mrs. Heard was a member of First Assembly of God in West Monroe for over 65 years. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William M. Heard, Sr.; grandson, Todd Bates; great grandson, Joseph Christopher Bates; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Myers; and 4 siblings. Survivors include her 3 children, son, Bill Heard, Jr. and wife Renee of Monroe, and daughters, Sheila Bates and Sharon Dennis of West Monroe; 3 grandchildren, Chris Bates, Jackie Cooper and Debbie Crawford; and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chris Bates, Gavin Todd Bates, Chase Bates, LK Heard, Jr., Billy Cooper and Chris Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, September 5, 2014 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God in West Monroe.
