Gerry is survived by her husband of 17 years, John Heard; her son, Mike Cheatham and wife, Cindy, of West Monroe; grandson, Shane Cheatham and wife Melanie of West Monroe, granddaughter, Sherri Cheatham Burrows and husband Jay, of Katy, Texas; and her sister, Billye Ann Brown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is also survived by four great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death and welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Ethel and J. E. "Muck" Muckleroy and Riley Robbins; former husbands, Frank Cheatham and Mickey Chandler; and brother, Gene Muckleroy. Gerry was born in Huntsville, Texas, on May 23, 1925. Over the span of her life, she resided in various areas of Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana. She was an active member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe. Gerry's focus in life was supporting others in need by using her own life experience to help guide them. She worked as a nurse and loved collecting antiques and old- fashioned trinkets. She loved sharing stories of her life adventures with friends and family. Honoring her wishes and request, no funeral service will be held; however, there will be a celebration of her life at a later date for family and friends. She will be remembered fondly in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Ridgecrest Community Care Center for the loving care she received while residing there. Donations may be made in her memory to New Chapel Hill Baptist Church at 61 New Chapel Hill Road, West Monroe, LA 71291 or to Camp Journey of Katy, Texas, a camp program for children and young adults with autism, at www.camp-journey.com.
