Visitation will be held at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, on Friday, February 21, 2014, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with service following in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Karvin Adams of Cypress Street Church of God, of West Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive West Cemetery, under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Doris was born in Punkin Center to Charles Loyd and Lou Allie Brown Blalock on July 17, 1935. She went to high school at Jonesboro Hodge High School and graduated in 1953. She went on to earn a nursing degree and worked at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston and Pine Hill Nursing Home in Quitman. While working at Pine Hill Nursing Home she returned to Louisiana Tech University where she obtained her accounting degree and finished her career of 35 years there. Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Franklin Hennigan; and granddaughter Rylee Kate Hennigan. Doris is survived by her daughter Kathy (Butch) Hattaway of West Monroe; son Greg (Robin) Hennigan of Ruston; four granddaughters Rachel and Melissa Hattaway, of West Monroe, Kirby and Audrey Hennigan of Ruston; sisters Mary Blalock of West Monroe, Judith Blalock of Jonesboro and one brother, Kenneth (Pat) Blalock of West Monroe, and many nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends whom she loved dearly. Pallbearers will be Mike Coody, Quint Powell, Jimmie Rogers, Dwight Cooper, Doug Ireland, and James Ginn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice . Doris' family would like to thank the staff and many friends she made in the last ten months at The Guest House in West Monroe. We give our heart filled thanks to the Emergency Room and sixth floor staff of St. Francis Hospital in Monroe for the wonderful care shown to her and us.
