JANIS JEANETTE THORNHILL HERRING

Memorial Serviced Celebrating the Life of Janis Jeanette Thornhill Herring 
will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at College Place Baptist Church, 
301 Sherrouse Avenue, Monroe, Louisiana from 2pm until 4:30 pm. Stan Wyant 
will perform service.

Janis Jeanette Thornhilll Herring of Rayne, LA, formerly of Monroe, LA, 
passed away on the morning of December 6, 2016.

Janis loved to cook large meals for family and friends, she always made sure 
no one left hungry. She loved flowers of all kinds and had a beautiful 
garden. She also loved canning and preserving. Janis had a unique talent for 
making delicious pickles, jams and jelly.

She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Janis Herring is survived by her loving husband of 22 years Merle Henry 
Herring; devoted children Ricky Joyner, Vickie Pope, Betty Pope and Jennifer 
Carr (Robbie), Keith Herring, Ryan Herring and Bryan Herring (Tasha) and 
brother Bill Thornhill. She also leaves a lasting legacy with fourteen 
grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Janis Herring was preceded in death by her parents James Roland Thornhill 
and Lena Marie Emerson; brothers Norman Thornhill and Reginal Thornhill.
