Officiating will be Bro. Booty Garlington, Bro. Jackie Hightower, Bro. Joe Reynolds and Bro. Russell Rhodes. Wilma Griffith Hightower was born January 27, 1926 in Chatham, LA, to the union of Thomas Jackson Griffith and Nita Loflin Griffith. She passed away October 1, 2009. She was a devoted wife to her husband Harold Hightower for 61 years. She was a loving mother to her seven children, Bob Hightower and wife Sue, Ronnie Hightower and wife Brenda, Freddie Hightower and wife Terri, Thomas Hightower and wife Anita, Lily Spires and husband Raymond, Trixy Raina Lenard and husband Ken and Lori Hightower. She has 15 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister and husband, Harold Hightower. Our mother, known affectionately as "Bibber," was a devoted Christian and served the Lord all of her life witnessing to many, with the example she set as a humble servant of the Lord. Always quiet spoken, she taught many girls in GA's with encouraging words of wisdom. Mama was a faithful member of Caney Lake Baptist Church, a leader and active member of WMU, and most importantly was a dedicated Prayer Warrior! Her greatest joy was serving the Lord! She lived her life always trusting Him to take care of her family, praying for and witnessing to each of them. Mostly she was concerned for the souls of man, never letting a chance slip by to testify of the Lord's good works. Mama lived modestly and felt she was rich because she knew material things were not the most important issues in life. She lived and taught honesty, character, integrity, faithfulness and hard work. Each winter, she experienced and enjoyed the fruits of her labor from the summer garden where she worked diligently to provide home grown vegetables for her family. Each summer, she enjoyed the meat she helped preserve during the winter. There was never a time her family went without food. Every Saturday there was enough food on her table to feed as many as would show up. God always provided! Holidays were made special with food and fun over at Mama's house. We'd all gather around the piano to sing Christmas carols at almost any occasion. Mama so loved beautiful music! The outdoors were most gorgeous to her, plowed fields, sunsets, cows grazing, gardens but especially the flowers and birds, which spoke volumes to her about the Great Creator. Fond memories of fishing for bream off her own special pier and those picnics at the pond will forever be etched in our hearts. Yearly fall hay rides and wiener roasts will be sorely missed. Each one of her children and grand children were loved dearly and were very special to her. Her family would like to thank all of the hospital staff and other professionals who provided for her care, especially nurse Karen, Adrienne Starks and Myra Clemons. Thank you to all who prepared and brought meals for our family. It is a tremendous blessing to have such wonderful friends. Pallbearers will include, her grandchildren, Scotty Buxton, Ron Hightower, Jay Hightower, Kaleb Smalling, Glenn Hightower and Rich Waldroup. Honorary pallbearers will include, Raymond Spires, Ken Lenard, Jackie Hightower, Jimmy Don Hightower and the deacons of Caney Lake Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers please give a donation to the American Heart Association.
