Larry White, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating. Mrs. Hill was born October 1, 1922 in Farmerville, Louisiana and died peacefully on July 5, 2009 in West Monroe. Mrs. Hill was a graduate of Farmerville High School, Louisiana Tech University, and received a Masters degree in English from Northeast Louisiana University (ULM). She retired from teaching English and Spanish after 31.5 years. She taught at Mansfield High School, Ouachita Parish High School, Millsaps 8th grade, and twenty-five years at West Monroe High School. After retiring, she taught five years at Ridgedale Academy. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ, attending Farmerville Church of Christ and Whites Ferry Road Church of Christ. Personally, we are especially grateful for the numerous journals, stories, and poetry she left reflecting on her life and her family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Harold Hill; her parents, Jesse and Lillie Brantley; her brothers, Carnie and Jim Brantley; and sisters, Loma Brantley Giddens and Fern Brantley Norris. She is survived by one son, Wes Hill and wife Sandy of West Monroe, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Shannon Hill Vernon and husband Jamie of Parker, Colorado, and Steven Hill of Columbia, South Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Will Vernon and Wesley Vernon; and one sister-in-law, Melba Hill Pylant and husband Raymond of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. The family would like to thank the staff of Rosemont Assisted Living, Compassus Hospice and family friend, Beatrice McGraw for their loving care. Memorials may be made to the Farmerville Church of Christ, the Whites Ferry Road Church of Christ or to the charity of your choice.
