Born March 18, 1931. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 15, 2016, with Rev. Aaron Dickinson officiating, at Swartz First Baptist Church, Swartz, LA, where she chose to serve her Lord and Savior. She was a steadfast worker in the church helping so many. She was faithful in bringing up her family and she was admired. Everyone has something good to say about Ms. Virginia, and she never had a bad word to say about anyone. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington, Rd. Monroe, LA She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Samuel C. Hixon, Jr.; her children, Carol Smith and husband Dennis of Swartz, LA, Patricia Gulledge and husband Mike of Swartz, LA, Barbara Andrews and husband Max of Bastrop, LA, Samuel Thomas Hixon and wife Geraldine of Monroe, LA, and Martha Covington and husband Scott of Fredericksburg, VA. She left 10 grand children and 11 great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Jeanette Ramsey of Swartz, LA; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Tryon, Jim Glass, Phil Hill, Randy O'Neal, Bob Hitt and Bubba McBroom. The Family would like to thank all those that have shown their love to her in so many ways as she completed her journey. "Be strong and of good courage, do not be afraid, neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord thy God is with you wherever thou goest." Joshua 1:9, just one of her life verses.
